What is a CQAS?
A CQAS is a quality management system, comprising of quality procedures, processes and standards that ensures a systematic approach to producing a high quality product. A Compost Quality Assurance Mark gives confidence to consumers that your compost is produced and verified by a National third party certification body, Certification Europe.
Benefits to your business by being certified to the National Compost Quality Assurance Scheme:
- The national Compost Quality Assurance scheme is fully supported by the Department of the Environment Heritage and Local Government and by rx3 giving certification to the CQAS credibility and sustainability
- A certified CQAS will enable confidence, transparency and added value to your Business
- Third party certification ensures transparency of your quality assurance system
- Bringing a confidence to the consumer that you produce a quality assured compost

How can you participate?
Participation in the trialling phase will deliver great value to your business and we would like you to be part of this phase. Participation in the trialling phase is limited to 15 composting operators and will be awarded on a first come basis. If you wish to register simply complete the online enquiry form below with your contact details and we will be in touch to discuss your requirements.
By being involved in the CQAS you will allow your business to:
- LEAD – This is an opportunity to be one of the first organisations to become certified to the National Compost Quality Assurance Scheme and display the quality Compost Quality Assurance Mark on your products
- DEVELOP - Receive training that allows you to meet the requirements of the CQAS. This will give the operator an opportunity to understand the purpose of the trailing process, the workings of the CQAS and to promote a general discussion on the composting operations
- ASSESS - An in-depth audit of the facility against the requirements of the CQAS. This will include all elements of the CQAS from the initial application process through to the sampling procedures, quality management and operating conditions.

IMPROVE - A report on the outcome of the trailing process which will identify the steps that need to be taken to progress to the certification process.
