Implementing EN 16001 (Dublin)

20 Oct 2010

Managing Energy Wisely
Energy is increasingly one of the most significant costs to a business.
Many companies are recognising the importance of ensuring that that they have management systems in place to identify, manage and minimise their energy usage. Clearly this leads to savings in costs, but it also demonstrates their corporate responsibility in regards to the environment.

EN 16001 Energy Management System
A European Norm has been developed for Energy Management Systems known as EN 16001. The aim of this standard is to establish a systematic approach for improving energy performance continuously. The standard specifies the requirements for continuous improvement through using energy more efficiently. An organisation that implements the standard needs to establish, implement, maintain and improve an energy management system. It will ensure that this conforms to its stated energy policy and demonstrate such conformance to others. When the system is mature, energy management becomes integrated into day-to-day day responsibilities and activities.

How Can We Help?
Certification Europe, the first accredited certification body for EN 16001, has developed a two-day training course specifically designed to help organisations understand and meet the requirements of EN 16001 and how to implement a suitable Energy Management System (EMS) or ensure that their existing system meets the requirements of the standard.
