Future in Pharmaceuticals
Premier Business Media and Certification Europe are proud to bring “Future in Pharmaceuticals” to the Irish market. This industry first, a forum for Pharma companies in Ireland to come together and discuss sustainability.
Sustainability within pharmaceutical processing and manufacturing sector has never been more important, with the Dublin area facing a decade of water shortages and Irish power producers warning of the dangers of unmonitored energy consumption, sustainability has become almost a must have for Irish business. With an estimated 28,000 people employed in the Irish pharmaceutical sector, a figure that is growing by 6% per annum. Sustainability is paramount to continue this trend.
For many years larger organisations have been realising the fact that environmental policies and energy efficiencies within processing is directly related to the bottom line as well as employee productivity and engagement.
Reducing energy costs, carbon footprint and waste during the process of pharmaceuticals can have a significant impact on the profitability of any facility. Additionally, global pharmaceutical manufacturers find themselves under increased pressure from within their own organisations to reduce their carbon footprint and compete against other worldwide sites from within their group.
Future in Pharmaceuticals has some industry experts lined up to share their experiences about how they have made their organisations more sustainable, either through managing their environmental impact through waste, water or reducing their energy usage. Some of these experts include; Simon Garrett, EHS Manager with Janssen Pharmaceuticals; Michael McCarthy Energy Champion for Abbvie; Louis Collins, Director of Engineering at Astellas Ireland and Ed Collins, Energy Lead at GlaxoSmithKline.
Certification Europe’s Director of Services will be on site at Future in Pharmaceuticals offering advice to businesses looking to improve their energy performance or manage their waste in a greener way as well as addressing the conference on a number of topics including occupational health and safety and corporate governance.
