Meath County Council Fire Service certified to OHSAS 18001:2007

Certification Europe is proud to announce that Meath County Council Fire Service has achieved certification to OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety standard. The certification was presented by Certification Europe’s CEO, Michael Brophy at Navan Fire Station to the entire team involved in implementing the standard across all 7 fire stations across the county which is a first in Ireland.

Michael Brophy said during the presentation ceremony by obtaining OHSAS 18001 the people of County Meath can be assured that their fire department is providing the highest standard of health, safety and welfare to the people of County Meath. What we found so impressive about Meath County Council Journey to certification was that they pushed the scope of their management system to not only include users of the service but also the fire personnel on all emergency and non-emergency call outs alike by setting out a preventative and proactive approach to identifying workplace hazards.

Chief Fire Officer Dermot Brannigan, of Meath Fire Service, announced that obtaining this certification would not have been possible without the hard work, dedication and consistency of each person working to serve the fire department. The general public of Meath to whom the service is for, can take pride in their fire department and assure that they are engaging in the standard through their knowledge and commitment to always put health and safety at the core of everything they do. The fire department in Meath knows that they have a system of high standards in place to ensure the protection of life, property and the environment.

By obtaining OHSAS 18001 certification Meath fire department has set the highest standard of health and safety throughout all of their operations whether that be at the station or on a call and ensure the people of Meath that health and safety is a principle priority to them.
