ISO 50001 Accreditation

Certification Europe was the first certification body in Western Europe to become an accredited certification body (accredited by INAB) to certify organisations with ISO 50001 certificates. We issued the world’s first accredited ISO 50001 certificate in September 2011. We are also accredited by UKAS for ISO 50001 which makes Certification Europe one of the few certification bodies to be accredited to Irish and UK accreditation schemes.

Accreditation is the process by which a certification body is recognised to offer certification services. In order to become accredited, Certification Europe is required to implement ISO 17021 which is a set of requirements for certification bodies providing auditing and certification of management systems. Certification Europe is audited annually by our accreditation bodies to ensure its services meet the exact requirements of the relevant accreditation standards.

Please visit Our Accreditation page for further information on our accreditation.

What industries implement ISO 50001?

The energy standard is applicable to organisations both large and small, irrespective of geographical, cultural or social conditions. ISO 50001 has been structured to be aligned with other popular industry management system standards, so it is possible to integrate an energy management system (EnMS) with your existing management system(s). Certification Europe has operational experience in energy management in the EU, Africa and Asia.

The energy management standard lasts for three years and is subject to mandatory audits every year to ensure that you are compliant. At the end of the three years, you will be required to complete a reassessment audit in order to receive the standard for an additional three years.
